Being a student from a business school, most of my peers intend to do MBA after gaining enough work experience. However, I opined that MBAs are not useful unless you get to top-tier schools such as Wharton, Columbia, Harvard or Stanford. Even then, I think MBA is overrated.

Here are some of the articles I have found online to substantiate this.

Businessweek: Is The MBA Overrated?

Proof MBAs Are Overrated, by 20 People Who Are Smarter and Richer Than Your Professor

To MBA or not to MBA?

Among other things to consider, MBAs are extremely expensive and typically you cannot get funding for the program due to the fact people view an MBA as a positive NPV investment. Well, it is a food for thought for those who intend to do an MBA. :P

On a side note, I will be doing my masters (No, it is not an MBA) in the coming year and I will plan for PhD in the near future. However, on contrary to what most people would think, I am not going to join the academia until I am in my late 50s and tired of industry jobs. :P
